The Sustainable Development Fee supports Bhutan’s commitment to sustainability, conservation, and cultural preservation. Below is a clear overview of current rates, how payment works, and applicable exemptions.

Rates may be revised by the Royal Government of Bhutan. We apply the officially notified rates at the time of confirmation.

How the SDF Works

Calculated by nights
SDF is calculated based on the number of nights you spend in Bhutan.

Paid in advance
Typically paid during visa/permit processing or as per the approved entry process.

Separate from trip cost
SDF is independent of accommodation, transport, guide, or tour package charges.

Refunds may apply
Unused nights may be eligible for refund, subject to official approval and documentation.
Exemptions & Concessions
Certain travelers may qualify for exemptions or concessions depending on official eligibility and approvals. Where applicable, we can assist with documentation and guidance.
Children
Children below 6 are exempt. Children aged 6–12 are typically charged at 50% of the applicable rate.
Official / Diplomatic Travel
Diplomatic passport holders or official guests may be eligible under specific government rules.
Government-Approved Events
Certain conferences or approved events may have special provisions, subject to official clearance.
