DAY 01 •

Phuentsholing – Paro • ~4–5 hrs from border

Border arrival & ascent into the Paro Valley

Welcome to Bhutan. After completing immigration formalities at Phuentsholing, meet your private guide and driver. Begin the scenic drive toward Paro — rising gradually from subtropical foothills into cool pine valleys.

A gentle stop at Zangtopelri Lhakhang is recommended before continuing onward. Along the way, pause at Chunzom, the confluence where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet, marked by three distinct chortens in different styles.

DAY 02 •

Paro – Thimphu • ~1.5 hrs

To the capital — culture, craft, and quiet viewpoints

Travel to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital — a city that feels intimate yet unmistakably alive. Depending on pace, you may explore key landmarks such as Memorial Chorten, the Buddha Dordenma, or a calm walk near Tashichho Dzong.

DAY 03 •

Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha • ~3 hrs

Mountain pass elegance & Punakha’s riverside grandeur

Cross Dochula Pass, known for its 108 chortens and Himalayan panoramas in clear weather. Descend into the warmer Punakha valley and visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, dramatically positioned at the confluence of two rivers.

Later, enjoy a countryside walk to Chimi Lhakhang, Bhutan’s famed fertility temple, surrounded by rice fields and village paths.

DAY 04 •

Punakha – Gangtey (Stopover) – Bumthang • scenic mountain day

Through Gangtey — then onward to Bhutan’s spiritual heartland

Begin an early, scenic journey toward Bumthang. En route, enjoy a meaningful stop in Gangtey / Phobjikha, a glacial valley known for open meadows, village life, and its conservation story.

Continue onward into central Bhutan, arriving in Bumthang by evening — a region often called the spiritual heartland of the kingdom.

DAY 05 •

Bumthang • Sightseeing

Sacred temples, valley lanes, and quiet ritual beauty

Spend the day exploring Bumthang’s heritage — a gentle blend of monasteries, forests, and villages. Recommended visits include Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, both deeply linked to Bhutan’s spiritual history.

DAY 06 •

Bumthang – Paro • long scenic drive / domestic connection (as arranged)

Return to Paro — the journey folds back into the west

Return from Bumthang toward Paro. This leg can be done as a long scenic drive (with comfort stops), or via a domestic flight if arranged — depending on preferences, availability, and overall pacing.

DAY 07 •

Paro • Sightseeing

Heritage forts, temples, and valley time

Enjoy a full day in Paro — ideal for Bhutan’s classic fortress-and-temple heritage. Recommended visits include Rinpung Dzong, the National Museum (Ta Dzong), and Kyichu Lhakhang.

Optional (time permitting): local farmhouse lunch • gentle riverside walk • craft browsing.

DAY 08 •

Paro • Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

Taktsang — the climb that stays with you

Hike to Bhutan’s most iconic monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside. Your guide will help set a comfortable pace, with rest stops along the way and time to take in the views.

  • Note: photography is not allowed inside the monastery

DAY 09 •

Paro – Phuentsholing • ~4–5 hrs

Return to the border gateway

Drive back toward Phuentsholing, enjoying the gradual descent into the warmer lowlands. Depending on timing, you may pause for last scenic views and relaxed comfort breaks.

DAY 10 •

Departure • Border gate

Departure

After breakfast, proceed to the border gate for your onward journey. Your guide will assist with smooth exit formalities.

Arrive in Paro and meet your private guide and driver. After hotel check-in, ease into Bhutan with gentle Paro sightseeing: heritage architecture, quiet temple courtyards, and open valley light.

DAY 02 •

Paro – Thimphu • ~1.5 hrs

Capital day — landmarks and quiet rhythm

Drive to Thimphu. Your guide will shape the day around your pace — from devotional sites like the Memorial Chorten, to broad valley views at Buddha Dordenma, and a calm walk around Tashichho Dzong’s outer grounds.

DAY 03 •

Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha • ~3 hrs

Punakha — rivers, dzongs, and countryside paths

Cross Dochula Pass and descend into Punakha. Visit Punakha Dzong and enjoy a village walk to Chimi Lhakhang, offering a softer side of Bhutan’s sacred landscape.

Punakha – Bumthang • scenic mountain day

Into the heartland — arriving in Bumthang

Travel toward Bumthang, passing through central Bhutan’s changing landscapes and mountain passes. Arrive by evening for a calm first night in the spiritual heartland.

DAY 05 •

Bumthang • Sightseeing

Temple day — stories, shrines, and stillness

Explore Bumthang’s most important sacred sites, including Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang. This day is designed to feel unhurried — allowing time for quiet moments and meaningful pauses.

DAY 06 •

Bumthang – Gangtey (Phobjikha) • ~3–4 hrs (as routed)

Gangtey — meadow calm and glacial valley views

Journey to Gangtey / Phobjikha. Visit the Black-Necked Crane Information Centre (seasonal relevance) and enjoy a gentle walk through the valley’s open landscape.

DAY 07 •

Gangtey – Paro • long scenic drive

Return west — Paro welcomes you back

Return to Paro. This can be done as a scenic drive with comfort stops.

Paro • Sightseeing

A day for Paro’s heritage and valley time

Enjoy Paro’s cultural highlights: dzongs, museums, and ancient temples. Your guide will refine the day based on energy levels before the Tiger’s Nest hike.
